Cabin Post: This cabin post was carved from a pine log to fit and support the loft floor beams. The carving depicts and Eagle with a Fish in its talons; a Bear with the same Fish in its mouth; a Loon nestled in a nook in a slate stone tower; and a Weasel in another nook looking at the Loon. It was made to have two places for fit adjustment when installed and required to have, at its smallest cross section, the equivalent of an 8 x 8 beam.
