Sand Sculptures

Sculpture in any medium is a remarkable skill and an extraordinary gift that is the result of the ability to transform something simple into whatever fits within it through tools and visualizations.
Sand sculpture is the oldest sculpting medium known to history. It's semi permanent existence has been related to all things in life and life itself. The mystique of the 'sand castle' has always been intriguing with its return from whence it came by the hands of nature's own emotion, a rising tide.

The images below are sand sculptures done by Justin for malls, fairs, trade shows, schools, and sand sculpting sompetitions. The outdoor pieces can be sprayed with a coating to harden the surfaces that weather proofs them for a few months or more. Indoor pieces will last, without a coating, for as long as they are not touched. The "Burlington" picture is of a castle made in 1997 that still stands today. The sand sculptures stay together because the sand is packed very hard, small layers at a time, while the sand is wet or moist.
