"Olde World Santa"

This is my latest "Olde World Santa" carving. Finished on 12/9/21. He's carved in basswood, sealed with boiled linseed oil, painted with acrylics, and antiqued and finished with a light brown Brix wax, lightly buffed. With the wenge wood base he's 9 1/2 inches high and 5" wide. The dust proof glass dome comes with him. He took over a year and a half to make working on him in between life's lessons and a busy work schedule.

I sketched him from a side profile starting with the beard. The beard's profile makes him and it took a dang long time. The rest of him is the typical Santa. Though, I found a picture in my pile of ideas of a Santa with a green coat, not a red one, with reddish and yellow trim. I liked it. It looks like what a Santa would have looked like before Coka-Cola Americanized Santa. I added the cane to show his age while always ageless. It's signed and dated under his coat. One of these pictures will be my Christmas card for 2021.
